Students at Percy Julian Middle School in Oak Park put on a heck of a production of “Fiddler on the Roof” last Friday night. I was expecting the typical school play with a generic stage set. Not so at Percy. They went all out with a huge movable set, orchestra, and more than 100 student actors in full, detailed costume. They even had those invisible microphones Madonna uses! It was all very well done.
Backstage, though, there were still plenty of moments unique to a “normal” middle school event. This group of students danced around with their white masks as they waited to be called to the stage for their scene. Plenty of goofy, nervous energy. I couldn’t resist photographing them here opposed to the more predicable and canned shots of them on stage.
