Staring down the opposition
When I covered Cincinnati Bengals games during my days there, the team had a running back named Corey Dillon who had the best facial expressions and eyes. He always made for nice photographs simply because of the intense look on his face. Here in Chicago, I’ve photographed several Riverside Brookfield High School games and this fellow named Billy VandeMerkt keeps finding his way into my photographs. He’s got an almost sinister look about him when he’s guarding someone on the basketball court. Weird how something as simple as a lively set of eyebrows can add to a sports photo.
