The glow of nativity

Audience members look on during a jazz nativity at Saint Luke Church in Chicago Saturday evening. Jazz musicians, dancers, singers and even live animals came together to tell the story of the birth of Jesus in the church production. It was all very nice, especially the music, but I was struck by the glow of the peaceful faces in the crowd.

There’s something therapeutic about listing to music echoing among the amazing acoustics of a religious cathedral.
