Time for a smoke
I often joke that Oak Park, Ill. is like the town depicted in the movie “Pleasantville”. The biggest news in this town sometimes seems like a cat stuck in a tree. That’s why it sort of surprises me to see things like the car accident I found myself photographing today at Taylor and Jackson St. Not that it was big news or anything.
A Honda pickup truck collided with a Toyota sedan, forcing the Toyota over a sidewalk after it bounced off a tree and into the side lawn of a home. Fortunately, no one was injured. The driver of the Toyota, Gracie Liggins of the Austin neighborhood, lit a smoke as police filed a report and tow trucks arrived at the scene. The image doesn’t really provide much reference to just how close the car came to crashing into the home, but it does show a few things. Both drivers, both cars, and a relieved/annoyed look on the face of Liggins as she puffs on a cigarette after her close call.
